COURSE SYPNOSIS

“Process Payments”
is a module under the WSQ Food Services Skill Standard.

This module is designed to teach learners with the ability to process cash and non-cash
payments. It also includes setting up cash stations, posting and issuing bills
to customers, correcting errors and closing of point of sales (POS) system.

Upon completion of this unit, participants will be able to apply them at the workplace which include:

  1. Apply sales closing techniques and explain the different types of discount, tax and service charges.
  2. Perform sales closure at the POS station and explain the different types of modes of bill settlement.
  3. Operate POS terminal and cashless payment devices and explain various basic components and functions in POS terminal and cashless payment devices.
  4. Rectify payment errors and identify the different cause for payment errors and verifying methods.
  5. Perform closing and shift handover of POS terminal and cashless payment devices and list the the importance of performing proper closing and completing shift handovers.

Course Details

  1. Have a basic understanding of the organisation’s product and service offering in F&B
  2. Have a basic understanding of the organization’s structure, standard operating procedures and guidelines on F&B service
  3. Be able to speak, listen and read English at a proficiency level not lower than the Employability Skills Workforce Skills Qualification (ES WSQ) Workplace Literacy (WPL) Level 3
  4. One year working experience preferred at the F&B or Hospitality sector
  5. Basic knowledge on the legislative requirements on the F&B or Hospitality
